Starlight Sailing Adventures is a seasonal sailing school based in Sooke, British Columbia, operating along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Founded and led by Gord Fulcher, the school offers Basic and Intermediate Cruising courses, navigation instruction, and official Sail Canada certifications. Running from June through September, it attracts adult learners looking for practical, confidence-building experiences in real coastal sailing conditions.
Before using Checklick, the school managed key tasks manually, especially around scheduling and instructor coordination. Booking calendars were scattered across platforms and email threads, and instructor availability had to be confirmed manually for each course. Admin work was time-consuming and disjointed, with seasonal pressure to fill classes in a short time. There was also no central system for syncing Sail Canada certifications with participant tracking – limiting efficiency and making it difficult to scale or delegate.
To streamline operations, Starlight adopted Checklick to digitize and organize its certification and program management. As a Sail Canada-recognized platform, Checklick let them manage evaluations and certifications in one place, eliminate spreadsheets and paperwork, and give instructors real-time access to class rosters. It also centralized records, supported audit trails, and ensured compliance with Sail Canada standards – without additional manual effort.
The school implemented Checklick across its core programming during the sailing season. Instructors access the platform to view up-to-date class lists and record student progress directly, while administrators use it for registration coordination, evaluation submissions, and managing overall program records.
